4x4 Intelligence Single Arm RWC Fitting Instructions

I recently got a bargain on a 4x4 Intelligence RWC for the D4. The guy that I bought it off had never used it in the few years since he bought it (never even fitted it to his car). It's in near new condition and the gas strut is working very well. Anyways... now that I've got it, I can't seem to find anyone who will fit it.

I'd be happy to give it a crack myself with a few of my mates who have some good tools but I don't have any fitting instructions (they didn't come with the purchase). Most of the 4x4 shops I've contacted either won't touch it because it's not their product or they can't promise they won't destroy my bumper.

Calling all AULRO members who has one of these or has had one! I'd love to get my hands on a set of fitting instructions or get the advise of someone who has done it themselves. The fitting is quite obvious just by looking at the item. Just take the bumper off (easier said than done I'm told), bolt the RWC on, cut a circle in the bumper and put it back on. Without instructions though, I'm only guessing and that's not going to end well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, sounds as if Tombie will provide most of what you need but if of interest, I can provide their recommendations for replacement bearings, seal and strut part numbers. Also have original instructions if what supplied incomplete.

One weakness is that the bearing cover is not sealed and water gets in - and the bearings then rust out. When this happened to mine, we fitted new bearings and strut plus a grease nipple to allow charging with grease with cap on. Does not remove need to check and clean out but simplifiies maintenance.

The replacement gas strut is also a stronger version.

Andrew. I did the same. Drilled and tapped in a grease nipple and a smear of silastic on the cap
