IID tool new key programing - D3

    Hi all,

I brought a new key from ebay, and have attempted to reprogram it with my IID tool. So far every attempt it has failed to program the new key. Has anyone had this issue before? Im might shoot gap diagnostic an email and see what they say.

Memory must be better than you assume Andy!

Had no problems with the Ebay keys I bought(other than putting one through the wash 2 months later).

Did you check to make sure you have the same frequency as the old keys??? Can't think what else could go wrong.

You might have to delete some old keys first. You can only save a few at a time.

Only time I had trouble with ebay key not programming was a dud battery , they're not the usual 2032 battery as they are soldered to the PCB , I ended up replacing with a battery holder from jaycar and a standard 2032 battery , separate the cover taking note of the spring for the key blade , you should have at least 3.0 volts.

I don't know what the process is with the IID Tool, but with the Nanocom you re-learn the total number of keys you want to use. That includes both 'old' and 'new' - so if 1 old and 1 new then re-learn 2 keys.

I ordered the key with the same frequency as the working ones, however there are no markings on the replacement key that specifies the frequency so it could be wrong for all I know.

I had a similar thought of the battery may be flat?

With the Nanocom the keys will re-learn without issus but if the battery is flat in the remote then they won't work - or only work once immediately they are re-learnt.

Just an update, I shot an email to gap to see what they had to say also. Definatly an issue with the key, and they have seen it a few times with the chinese knock offs. So I think I'll open it up and check the battery, if thats good then it looks like I've got a $70 piece of plastic
