200 tdi gearbox replacement
So the old 110's third gear appears to have had its day. Looking into reconditioned gearboxes it seems that I could be up for more dollars than anticipated. Current gearbox is a 5 speed LT77. Am curious is it possible to install an R380 in place of the LT77? Have seen the Ashcroft 'stumpy' which looks like it could suit, freight cost dependant. Has anyone any basic advices of what to avoid or any reliable suppliers of reconditioned gearboxes around Brisbane?

Yes, the stumpy R380 is a straight bolt in. Whichever way you go, do the clutch, rear main seal and all clutch throwout parts at the same time.
