In car stowage for 20l jerry cans.

I'm on a mission or at least a project.

I'm designing a setup for stowing four 20 litre plastic jerries in the car for long trips water and or diesel. Many things to consider.

The immediate consideration is the dimensions of a 20 litre jerry.

So does any one have a jerry that they can measure: length, breadth and width.

I've got some plastic Water Jerries that are 165mm x 330mm x 490mm (to the top of the handle).

I don't know if it's a standard size or anything.

    Thanks Jamo,

The crude calculation suggests 25 litres but if the bellying and the handle are taken into account it is most probably a 20 litre job.

Now to the schematic design

    Mahn,

I have 2 steel petrol jerries (ex-army but different brands) and 1 plastic water jerry (new khaki one from Rheem - I think) I can measure them all if needed.
