    Aftermarket Wheel Bearings

Hi all! Best for the new season. I'm putting together my list of spares for a trip down the CSR in May. Anyone with feedback on aftermarket wheel bearings ie. non-genuine. I've tracked down most of the other stuff at the usual degrees of savings over OE. Also, (i'm no mechanic) would a bearing puller/SST be required to get to the little suckers? Any feedback welcome. Vehicle is an 02 Defender.

OEM bearings are Timkin, these along with any other
bearing, eg. FAG, SKF, KOYO are all top quality.

never had a prob with any of them.

    cheers phil

    hey miker

if you only want one set i.e. two bearings i should be able to help out, i took a set across the simpson with me last year, will see if i can find them tonight. will save you buying them.

i'm considering the csr in 07, would be interested in your some of your info on your trip preparation i.e fuel drop.

mr automotive at redcliffe did a spare parts kit up for me to cross the simpson at no cost, they are also pretty practiced at send replacement parts all over aust at short notice, might be handy carring there number.

Kelvin (& guys), thanks for the advice and offer. How's the Fender going? Mine is an 02 but has already been to the Cape, the Gulf, Simpson, Central Aus etc. Not missed a beat yet, however will get to the 100k mark somewhere out on the CSR and I'm becoming a little more conscious of spares as the k's tick up. Planning for the trip has been about 6-8 months in earnest although has been thought through in general logistics terms for about 18.

    Cheers

    Mike.

Thanks for the offer Kelvin. As per our prevoius chat I've contacted a service mob (British Tech) and asked if they are willing/able to put a "loan spares kit" together. Waiting to hear back. Ideally if they, or another party, come through the bearings (and all the other stuff) won't be an issue. If they take an imprint of a credit card and/or a deposit you would think that would suffice. Stuff would have to be "as new" on return of course - or consider it purchased I would think a fair view.

I'll see how it pans out. Thanks again for the offer.

    Mike.
