    cruise control

    hi

any ideas the cruise control has just stopped working on our disco 99
it worked fine when we got it........but now when you fit the button to set it the car feels like it's set to cruise but the speedo just drops away........

we checked the fuse box incase it was an electrical fault and there was a fuse blown i say blown it had one corner totaly melted, we changed this but it has nt made any difference boy friend is pretty sure it's mechanical but he hasn't looked under it yet! and beeing as though we have never had cruise control before i thought better ask incase we go barking up the wrong tree

    thanks for any help

This is common, usualy a slpit vacumm hose.
There is one from the activator on the Phlenum chamber, also one under the battery box that is where trhe pump is hidden and a "T" piece under the dash that goes to the brake pedal and the other to the clutch lever if you have a manual.
Also if the hoses are ok, then check the switch on the pedals, sometimes these are out of adjustment and don't close properly when the pedal rests are in the up position. this could cause vacuum loss.

Yep, I just had the same problems with my Disco.
Turns out the vacuum hose on the throttle body actuator was split. Once this was fixed it was all good again.

My cruise control problems were caused by the micro switch on the clutch pedal coming loose and another time the linkage to the throttle body came off.
