O2 sensor on 94RR gas conversion

    Hello everyone.

l am about to put my old gas system from my 84 RR into my 94 RR. The installer suggests l put an O2 sensor in it together with a parasite computer. He thinks this will make it run a fair bit better than a standard conversion.

However, speaking to other converters, some have said it would make little if any difference to performance or economy. Something to do with it being LAMDA, not sure what they are on about.

Anyway, if anyone has any insight into this, it would be much appreciated, as he wants an extra $500 to wire in the sensor and computer. Is it worth it?

    Cheers.

LPG doesnt use a computer (unless its one of them new fangled direct injection setups) so i cant see any point, some conversions do use the ecu to control ignition so this may be what he's on about.

    Chase,

The following may not be particularly pertinent to your situation but might be useful in discussions with the mechanic who is reaching deeper into your pocket.

I had a vehicle that frequently needed the Lambda sensor replacing. The device senses oxygen in the exhaust gas and adjusts the fuel air mixture.

Usually a component in fuel injected petrol engines that helps to reduce emissions. Therefore I would think that the 94 Rangie already has one???

And as for LPG I wonder?
