Advice Required - URGENT

I am buying a Discovery 3 SE V6 (brand new) from a dealer.

He tells me that they have spotted a oil leak on the power steering unit while detailing the vehicle at their service centre. It had done 0Kms.

They are in the process of repairing the unit or replacing the washers and need two days for it. (Apperently says part not available).

Any advice on what I should do, what I should ask for and should I go ahead with the purchase?

Dealer says any problem will be covered by the 3yr warranty.

I wouldn't worry about it. I mean it's a very complex bit of gear. Let them fix it up for you.

A non technical reply,

A three year warranty and the fault has been declared up front.

What can you lose:?

After all if the service was crap you wouldn't have found out until the car was stranded somewhere.

If you have fallen in love with your Land Rover then make the commitment.

ive seen cars get damaged during transport....
they get to the dealer via the panel shop and get sold as new....

buyers cant find out as brand new cars dont have a history.....(do they...?)




if all else is well.....go ahead and buy it and enjoy it......

As the others said they are being up front so go ahead and enjoy. They are very capable machines off road. Are they giving you a driver training course in it to learn how to embarase everything else around you.

Power steering has always been sus in land rovers, if they don't leak, it probably means you're out of fluid.

But in a new D3?

This'll be real good in a few years, what else is wrong with it?

I bought a new Rossignol in 95 which had a few probs from new and after much angst on the dealers part (what a drama queen) these were sorted and it was great, wish I still had it.

As the guys have quite rightly said, it's under warranty, you're sweet and if the dealers still do the right thing, you'll always have a set of wheels. Alto gave me all sorts of interesting things to drive as the mandatory service vehicle replacement, even got a lightly used jag once.
