    Titan Drawers - 4WD Supercenter in a D3

I'm currently going through the design of a set of drawers for the back of my D3.
Whilst I'm having fun doing the designing, I'm not really looking forward to the actual making of them as I tend to have 2 left thumbs when it comes to making things.
Then it struck me - for under $400 I could get a set of the Titan drawers from 4WD Supercenter.
Only problem is that they don't list anything for the D3 and I'm wondering if the width of 1M is too wide to get the drawers open due to the way the trim comes in at the bottom of the door area.
Anyone have any experience of their units?
For the price, I don't expect Rolls Royce quality, but it would be cheaper than me doing it myself.

Just went and did a remeasure and it looks like the 900 x 1000 drawers will fit like a glove. And there is enough space at the rear door for the drawers to pull out.
Will have to make up a mounting/securing system, probably with turnbuckles to the existing 4 tie down points.
Debating now if I take out the 3rd row seats, or leave them and put the drawers on top.
If I take them out, I can work a way to get to the spare wheel winch with a few holes drilled in the base of the drawers.
I could even store more "stuff" under the drawers, but access would be a problem.
I can't help but keep thinking that the spare tyre system on the cars is stupid!!!!!
Maybe I could cut access holes in the base of the drawers for access to the space under them.
Guess it also means a rear tyre carrier is a necessity rather than an option.

I looked at them and they are very strong but bloody heavy. If I remember correctly they are about 65kg. My homemade setup is less than 30kg.

I too have a mate with some in a 78 LC. And I agree they seem pretty good. Can't remember what size they are, but i measured them and they would fit in the Disco.

My BIL has a set and seems happy but they are heavy. I bought an aluminum Off Road Systems set. They cost more, but are much lighter.

I too have decided to make my own as I posted somewhere I made a set for our Prado years ago and they lasted over many trips. Plus I already had a fridge slide for the 60ltr Engel and didn't want to waste that.
Only prob. with that slide was it was too wide and took up too much space as they're obviously made to fit anything up to about 80ltr. fridges.
Solution: Cut 6cm out down the middle and stick it back together again and now its just wider than the fridge and sits nicely on a low shelf and there'll be 2 shelves to the left beside it one on top of the other, and a larger shelf going across the top. Fridge height is nice and just right for the cook to access it for my beer......
Plus I can still access the spare wheel winder with a bit of cutting and sawing until I get a RWC.
I don't mind a bit of a project although I do like the look of some of the bought product. But mine will do what we want it to do and that's all that matters.

I too have been looking at these drawers. Mainly based on price. All my reading in the product has raised 3 negative issues: weight, fridge slide lock does not work and you have to check the tightness of all the bolts when assembling.

    All the best

I was going to make a new set for the D4, I temporarily had the set I made for the D2 in the D4 while I made my decision, in the end I bit the bullet bought a set of Drifta drawers(no table) already had a good table, $840 and are only 35kg and great quality.
    Cheers Baz.

I've looked more closely at the Titan drawers and I have 2 main issues.
    1. I already have a fridge slide for my trusty old Engel, therefore new slide not required.
    2. The weight of the drawers themselves, which after filling with "stuff" will obviously be even more. And the bigger the drawers, the more you tend to pack/carry!!!!!!
I'm now playing with my Ex-Army spacecases working out what combination fits in the back once the Engel and slide are fitted, and I think I'll probably go that way.
The great thing with the spacecases (which I used in my Perentie) is they are waterproof and stackable, and can make a great table base. They also store easily in my shed when not in use, and I don't have to spend any money as I already have them.
I think I'll remove the 2 rear seats and put in a false floor for access to the stupid spare winch bolt, and then I can store little used stuff under it where it is out of the way. I can also bolt the fridge slide to it.
I love the fact that we can bounce ideas around on this forum.
    Thanks everyone.
