    Series 1 Restoration

    I've just acquired a 57 Series 1, for restoration.
I'm a complete novice so I'm looking for guidance as to the best sources of information, books, directions, tips, sources of parts and the like.
I'd appreciate any information that anyone can offer
    I'm in Brisbane.

Best place to start is probably right here - go to the series forum and the Series 1 subforum, and read everything that looks relevant.

Get the factory workshop manual and parts books, the CDs available from "SHOP" in the header of this page is a good way, that helps support this forum.

Start a thread under "Series 1" and post pictures, tell what you are doing, and ask questions, in that thread.

And welcome to another Series restorer.

Maybe read this thread first The REAL cost of restoring a Series Land Rover

Lots of information on AULRO plus the internet (other forums, blogs and YouTube).

Stage 1 is to decide whether you want a perfect, back to original, example or just a usable vehicle. The above thread may help you decide.

Stage 2 is to decide how to approach the job i.e. complete stripdown or do sections at a time.

    Best of luck,

    Colin

    Series 1 Restoration

There's dinty's thread on his 86 inch that's great ( same as you're car basicly) He did a great job on the car and documenting it. ..
A lot of the general info on 80 inches crosses over to 86 inches as well . There's some great reco posts on here.
Lrsoc forum is handy to and covers a lot of stuff and there are parts and repair manuals available online( if you can't find them give me a yell). Yours in 86 inches

I'am in Westlake Brisbane & rebuilding my 80" . I did it 30 years ago but because there were very few books available & no internet as such to referance I did a few things wrong , but doing it correct & with the correct parts this time.
