18 inch rim — other details?

And while I am looking at wheel issues ...

    I am planning to buy an 18 inch rim to mount a second spare. I have a MY12 TDV6 (2.7 l).

I am familiar with tyre sizes (eg, 255/60/R18), but know little about rims. I guess the number of studs is important though!

Are all 18 inch D4 (and D3) rims the same "size"? In other words, can I safely buy any 18 inch rim from the D3 onwards?

    thanks

    A 17" D3 wheel is another option.

Doesn’t change diameter of tyre you fit!

    Think of it simply:
Draw a Big circle (tyre OD)
Doesn’t matter what size circle you put inside the larger one (rim diameter)..

And NEVER run different tyre diameters!
