Steering wheel audio controls playing up

    Hi all,
My turn to ask a question. I’ve noticed, radio or Bluetooth to my iPhone (via tune2air) that on random occasions my left hand audio control switches function. Volume up becomes volume down, mode becomes volume up, volume down becomes mode. Has anyone had a similar issue and know a fix please?

    Cheers

Can it be solved by turning the wheel a few times? Maybe the clockspring playing up and jumping a track?

My 2010 model has had the same problem for a few years now. Doesn't usually affect the cruise control but the radio volume in particular doesn't work. Always fixes itself on a restart. I just live with it as it is no big deal to use the volume knob on the radio.

Occasionally the cruise up down buttons go haywire (much rarer) and that is usually fixed by turning cruise off and then back on again.

I think they are software glitches but it could also be a mechanical problem with the connections causing the software problem.

Thanks BobD. Yes, it does come and go, and agree, can work around it. If I find a fix I’ll let you know what I discover. I assume it’s mechanical/electronic in nature as the software hasn’t changed and it’s only recently started.

I had the same intermittent problems with my MY09 D4, caused by poor contact in the connector on the loom from the switches. A little contact cleaner sprayed into the socket overcame the fault.

My09 D4 used to have issues too due to connector issues. Remove the airbag, clean and reseat the connector.
