bugga luckily she rang me and asked "what do I do ?'
Dont start it dont move it rang my indi and asked what now...
After his suggestion flat top home armed with empty drums and a long length of hose undid the filler into the tank and drained out the 30 lites then connected it up put in another 20 litres drained that , connected it up and filled the tank
300 km later all good ......at the moment

Did the same thing many years ago , a bunch of use were going up the Gulf barra fishing. We stopped in at Broken hill for fuel I started filling up my mates diesel 80 series Landcruiser with unleaded put 20 litres in before I realised. It was a 90litre tank. One of the blokes with us was a diesel mechanic he said just fill it up with diesel he said they used to do it all the time too clean the system out. So we did. Drove off without a problem wouldnt even know that there was ulp in it. That motor did over 400,000klms after this happened and was sold with the same motor in it. I dont advocate to try this but this was our experience

80 series diesel engine isn't a CRD, but a primitive design (indirect injection, mechanical injectors, lower pressure fuel lines compared to today's engines). Definitely don't do this in a modern diesel as you will seriously damage it.

I had to use it several times on a recent desert trip. There was one servo that obviously had a ULP nozzle on their diesel pump so it would trigger every time I filled up. Also filling using jerry cans would trigger it. Got quite good at "insert, engage, twist and pull" by the end....

My car has a long range tank fitted so they have modified the filler so you can fill the both tanks from the normal inlet ,good part can use hi flow nozzle to fill the tank . now what to do with 40 litres of contaminated fuel ?

I fill my normal tank with a high flow nozzle. You simply put it in the / near the throat and pull the trigger? Full flow fill? I don’t understand the issue personally. Just because it doesn’t insert deep into the throat of the filler, doesn’t change anything

Run it through an outboard motor or lawn mower etc. Any petrol motor won’t mind quite a bit of diesel. Two strokes run an oily mix in any case.

I accidentally filled my small generator with 100% diesel and it took quite a bit of flushing to get it to fire again. Smoke was impressive.
