    condamine river run sat

going for a drive to boonah on sat and thought i would go for a drive along the condamine gorge, have been going out there for years and have never driven up it

not sure of my exact route as yet, planning to drop in on 51jay, as ferno is out of town i will catch up next time

yep i know short notice, if anybody wants to tag more than happy, they have had rain so there should be some water to cross

any ideas on whats worth seeing at the top of the range or places of interest

Last time I did the gorge it had been recently graded and was scenic but a walk in the park. Signs still indicate it is a dry weather road only.

For a day trip, check out Teviot Falls, Queen Mary Falls and the lookouts. I have looped back north via Freestone and done the Western side of Spicers gap on the return leg to introduce some more interesting 4WDriving.

    seen your post re: weather

more than welcome, the more the merrier, rang our friends out there they they said i could come back via the border gate to save back tracking along the condamine

if the crystal creek trip is cancelled and some of you guys still wanted to fill in the day this would be the go

    meet at boonah 8:30ish
    smoko at 51jay's
condo run and return via border gate, it's all pretty much high range stuff

if for some reason the condo run is closed, there a fare chance we can go and play on 'steve's' cattle property which backs onto lake maroon, it has three or so low range tracks, some vehicals may need a little pull over high knob

All welcome for smoko (better make that a big bun Kelvin )
Long time since I did the Condamine, the track may be ok but there's still more than a dozen creek crossings.
To come back via the White Swamp gate you take the KIllarney-Woodenbong rd and turn left at Old Karuah. It's dirt for a few klm's but good, comes around east of Wilson's Peak.

Picked up my 16x8's with 31"tyres today.....wonder if they'll fit

Have a great trip, but do heed the warning sign on the entry to the Condamine River Gorge Road about resticted access after wet weather. There's a surprising number of people live on farms up that way and depend on the road being navigable in order to get in/out and whilst they welcome visitors through the area, they don't respond kindly to the road being unnessessarily chopped to peices (there are black soil sections which can get gluggy) if heavy traffic passes through soon after rain.

The road thre is used by dairy trucks picking up milk from the farms, school busses as wel as by the residents going to and from Killarney and Warwick.

A good plan is to go to Queen Mary Falls for lunck and a stretch of the legs and check out the road to the Gorge on the way. The warning sign isn't far off the mainroad from Kilarney. If it's wet - don't go down there but take the road from Quenn Mary Falls down to White Swamp
