    270 degree awning

Have been wanting a 270 degree awning like the Alu-cab shadow awn. Would anyone be able to confirm that they fit and will be functional on the new Discovery. My concern is the height of the rear door when open. However possibly, with careful mounting this may not be an issue as the arm of the shadow awn seems to be slightly offset. Hoping we can get one to fit.

    Umm, I have a Alu-cab 270 on my Defender......

From memory fitting a 270 to a D3 or 4 wasn’t straight forward given the height of the upper tailgate.

The D5 tailgate looks to sit higher again.

Not sure what your reference to offset is.......

Depending on the type of roof rack you select it would be straight forward to manufacture offset bracket to sit between rack and awning......probably would look the best.

    Considering it’s a tailgate is a 270 really needed?
Perhaps just a side awning and the tailgate open 270 degree awning

The tailgate can be set to not open all the way, could be low
    enough

I don’t know that awning but going by this photo of the raised tailgate I can’t see it being feasible.

Looking at that pic,the only way a foxwing would work is if it is mounted 600mm,at least, above the vehicle roof.

And no i am not 4 ft high

Thanks for that photo Scott. Seems it won't be possible even if offset from a roof rack which is quite disappointing. 270 degrees just gives so much more shade.

Remove the gas strut and the 270 would go under the tailgate
