    130 Baby Seats?

    Hi All,

I know this topic has been up here before, however have not seen a definite answer for VIC.
Im in love with the Defender 130 and have set my mind to buying one - i don't want to go older than a 1999 model. I'm just searching around for the right one to come up.

However, im worried i wont be able to put a baby seat in for my 2 year old. Has anyone here in VIC got this done legally with a cert.? To be honest i'm not even sure on the rules and regulations for a baby seat. If anyone has done this could you please refer me to who did it for you and how much it approx. cost?

If this is not possible i might have to start looking at a 110.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

    I couldn't find anyone for my 130.

Had to go up to NSW. Camden South of Sydney.

Cost around or a bit under a 1k and took about 3 hours.

anchor points directly into the back of the second row seats

    Hi All,

Just thought I would let anyone who is interested know that I have spent a few weeks in 2015 working with a local VASS certifier and an engineering firm to design and test(removing the seats and hanging a 347 kg weight off the anchor point and measuring the flex) a solution to install anchor points directly into the back of the second row seats of my 2011 Defender 110. I didn't the CRAB bar solution as it reduces available space. I did spend a bit of time speaking with the company in Sydney who have independently tested the design but their wouldn't sell their test results to a Melbourne company to certify. I also didn't want to drive to Sydney and then spend $1500 to only have to return to Victoria and get the modification plate.

To cut a long story short there is now an option in Victoria to legally get 1, 2 or 3 anchor points installed directly into the back of defender second row seats. Best part is the entire thing is about $500 less than getting a CRAB bar fitted and certified.

Feel free to contact me if you want to know more and I can put you in contact with the relevant people. They specialised in fitting anchor points to all sorts of cars so they might be able to assist with other models as well.

I can’t work out how to insert pictures of the sequence but can email them if anyone is interested.

Safe in Motion - Ferntree Gully, Melb

    Hi everyone

Today I had my 2015 puma defender 90 fitted with an anchor point at back of OEM rear fold away seat. Neat OEM-looking install. Engineer certificate. Didn't want crab bar thingy as the 90 is cramped enough!

Googled these guys and wanted to share good service - safeinmotion.com.au

Not many threads on aulro about Melb installers.

They're in Ferntree Gully cos thats where the engineer works. Took only 45 min while I waited. $450 per seat. Friendly service and highly recommended. Very happy.
