D11 CDL Actuator and Seat Covers

I would like to get some front seat covers for my newly aquired Disco series 2. Any recomendations of products that fit well & where to get them? It looks to me as though the seat might be a bit of an odd shape (to fit cheap standard covers). Wool would be nice, but it is mainly to stop the cloth seat wearing out as I jump in and out. (While looking at Discos to buy, I noticed alot of them had terible wear on the drivers seat).

I would also like to fit a CDL actuator. I would prefer to use a manual one and am keen on fitting a D1 Hi/Low/CDL lever. Does anyone know who would sell one in Aus? I see discoparts.com have them new in the UK, but maybe a second hand one would be cheaper if it can be sourced. LandyAndy's is cheap and works but I would like to look at other options first (no offence LA).

    Hi Sequel
The Disco1 hilo/CDL lock will work, but only if yours is an auto. There is nowhere to bolt the hilo/cdl acuator on the Disco2 manual box, that was my first try.
I have a Rangie(same as Disco1)HiloCDL acuator, but it was from a manual,it hasnt got the bolt on extensions the auto acuator has,on the Disco1 the CDL,Hi/Lo lever bolts onto a plate fixed to the gear selector on top of the gearbox. The Disco2 is fitted to the floor and operates the Hi/Lo via cable instead of linkage.

D11 CDL Actuator and Seat Covers

    Hi,

You should consider doing a search because there is so much material available

    Click on this:

    http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_17.html

Also click on the technical info & the installation instructions.

And Dave Ashcroft is very helpful and will have the parts (new) shipped to us in Aust within 10 days.

    Cheers Aston

We purchased wool seat covers for our 1992 Lancer from a guy at the Nerang Markets a few years ago. Since then we bought our 2001 Discovery 2 and the covers fit well. We were strapped for cash ops: so the Lancer had to go without covers for a while. They were off the shelf large with attached head rests. I think we paid $180 for the set (fronts only).

Since then we have bought another set from the same place for the Lancer and they fit just as well. I had a quote from a place in the valley, Fortitude Valley in Brisbane for those who don't know Brissie slang  , and they quoted around $600 for custom ones and they wanted to fit them.

Worth a trip to the coast I think .

Thanks Barry. Maybe next time I am down the coast.

So generally "large with attached headrest" will be fine?

CDL: I have done the searching, which is where I found the information on the Discoparts actuator (new) which is the same price as the Ascroft unit and the fitting instructions on expeditionexchange.com. However I was trying to find somewhere I could source a chaper/secondhand unit in Aus, and didn't have any luck finding that information.

LandyAndy, mine is an auto TD5, so are you saying an actuator of an auto rangie would also fit?

Yes this is what we purchased. I think the Nerang markets are only on the weekends. Actually I just did a search and they are called 'Carrara Markets'. They are open Every Saturday & Sunday from 5am until after 4pm. http://www.carraramarkets.com.au/

Maybe Autobarn of similar retailers would have something that would fit.

    Hope you find some.
