Let me guess -mid 90s model?
Mine has done that - mostly on bonnet - time for a sand and repaint.
Hi,
What is going on here?
I park the Defender in the back yard, and can look down on it from the main living room. This morning I noticed a discolouration on the roof and went to investigate.
Jumping up on the tray, it was with much relief I thought it was a wet plastic bag sitting on the roof.
Nope!
It was dry, and a bubble of what looks like clear-coat or similar that has decided to part company with the underlying paint.
I rubbed some polish on to the roof to protect it for a while. but am puzzled as to what causes this and what to do about it?

It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Yep mine was the same as the pressure washer removed a lot. Now only wash by hand with car wash containing wax twice a year.
May also have been repainted or re clear coat some time in the past using the wrong paint or silicon not removed or something similar. at least the aluminium doesnt rust.
Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
I gave it a wash and polish; all the rest of the paint work seems sound, so there is only a small area needing repair.
I am thinking of having the roof painted white as it is an easy area to mask off and should not look odd on a Landrover cab chassis.
The vehicle is a 2009 model, bought new, but unfortunately lives outdoors all the time.
Cheers
