    LPG on a Diesel

I know this subject was discussed earlier but........

Has anyone fitted LPG to a TDI300 Disco auto?

I'd love to here any pro's or con's.

Saw it at the Vic 4WD show and had a good chin wag with the guys there but I just want some "real world" experiences with it before I shell out my $4K.

    Cheers,

    Robbie A.

Didn't know you could do this to a Diesel!

Is it the same LPG that you put in a petrol engine?

Thanks DiscoNut - that is a good link.

Estimated "payback" time of 100,000Km seems very high, although you get a heap more power along the way.

I wonder if this an alternative to chipping the ECU? Pity it costs $4000.

The benefits lie in "dual fuel" in as much that you increase your fuel range, (extra tank fitted), and reduce your imported fuel requirement. ie use less diesel as it is offset with lpg.
LPG is a domestic fuel and should remain at a more stable price and because it is domestic, security of supply is almost gauranteed. (nothing is ever 100% certain).
The power increase is a bonus.

Cheaper to go with a chip ($1000), and a big bore pipe, ($1200.00). Rough figures.

    Your choice!

I do 45,000 k a year so it wouldn't take long to recoup it but the $4000 outlay is off putting and also the longterm reliability as mine is already chiped and modified (I still havn't work all the things they have done to it)???

    Hiya'll.

Dunno if you realise this but you're all talking about chipping whereas wozzlegummich originally said he had a 300tdi, could be tricky to chip

You are correct. it went off track after this:

"I wonder if this an alternative to chipping the ECU? Pity it costs $4000."
