Might get a better response if we had any idea what model you are talking about! And probably better to post in the appropriate 'pinnacles' area, or 'technical chatter'.
Does any one know what model year the brake light switch problem was resolved , older models go into limp mode etc but the software was rectified at some stage .

My understanding is that even on late model D4's, a failing / faulty brake switch can cause a range of otherwise unexplained faults / gremlins etc.
Having said that, I have a 2011 D4 and have never experienced any issues which could be related to a brake switch failure, and have never had the switch fail. I do however have a new brake switch in its packet out in my box of miscellaneous parts in the shed "just in case". I saved myself a few dollars and bought one from a Ford dealership advertising them on eBay some time back.
Cheers .........

I think it was very early years 05 06 that had a Gen 1 CANBUS that led to huge cascading faults for something simple like a blown tail light.
That said my MY08 got a run of faults for the brake light switch fail. This is due, I believe, to how many systems in the car hang off the brake switch for information.
My car does not experience any major faults for a blown bulb. In fact, there is nothing to warn you when a bulb is blown other than another motorist.
