    Defender 130 tail shaft

G'day all, long shot but I'm after a new or used tailshaft for my 130. Tried a few suppliers but no good. Needs to be from either a tdi or td5 130 with a salisbury diff.

    Cheers,
    Andrew 0400 124456

Is that why your truck was parked out the back of the servo in Corryong on Monday?

    130 tailshaft

    Hi Andrew,

Got one, used but in good nick. Located in Tamworth though. Still in car but will be coming out in a week or so. How soon do you need one? Price will be determined once I cost getting one from a 110 (building a 110 pickup out of a 130).

Thanks guys, I've found out that there is a new shipment of Hardi Spicer shafts coming in a few weeks, happy to wait till then. And yes it was in Corryong for a couple of days, got it back yesterday. Cheers, Andrew

A useful alternative if you have a machine shop available to retube a sjaft, is to buy a new front shaft from a 2002 onward defender which has the bigger stronger unis, part number is tvb100610, and get them to retube it to the correct length for the 130 rear. Much stronger.

    Defender 130 tail shaft

Who is your local guy cj5350?

Thanks Justin sounds a good alternative.
Just no one in Alice with the right “mindset”.
Anyone with shaft needs has to go interstate.
Disappointed to add another “new/rebuilt” item to the list of failures straight off the shelf.
This one from well known franchise.
I’ll have a few options when I get to Perth, but would like to change it out prior to departure.

On the bright side I was happy to find out just how smooth the 130 is without a shoddy shaft.

We've done this a couple of times now, one was for a parks and wildlife 130 fire unit, always loaded and driven hard went through unis and spread yokes regularly until we did that mod.
