Sorry - should have been ‘Right of Passage’ - but I didn’t seem to get a preview.
I had to share my success!
After working on removing the steering relay for about 10 days I finally got it out this afternoon!
I had used a jack, litres of lube, and dented the cross member trying to lever it out with a crow bar. No luck - not even a fraction.
Today I put a large two leg puller pushing the shaft upwards. Then with a big copper mallet I had from my MG racing days I beat the sides, constantly putting more pressure on the puller. Well, almost to my amazement it started creeping out.
It never got easier, fighting back right to the end!
Now I have nothing on the chassis except the hangers for the springs. The chassis is better than I had hoped with only the back crossmember needing work.
Just thought I’d share my win.

How about Rite of Passage......
Removing a steering relay does test your strength & ingenuity. I've done 4 now and only one was a struggle but I have another couple to go so at least one of them will be a problem.
As has been covered on the forum before, you can overhaul in situ if it won't come out.
I have wondered whether an O-ring round the top would stop dirt/mud/stones etc. filling up the gap but I won't be removing any of the ones I've done in the near future.....
