    red or green coolant?

tried searching on here but can't find much about this.

need to top up coolant and spoke to my land rover service guy on the phone and was advised any coolant will do.

after opening hood and having a look at the bottle sticker there is a tick next to pink fluid and x next to green fluid, I'm assuming the pink fluid is the go from Super Cheap Auto.

Any advice on this much appreciated.

    cheers

That “Land Rover service guy” has no idea what he is talking about.

    Never ever mix coolants.

As Troutsaid add rainwater,or use the correct Landrover spec coolant for that particular vehicle.

You want long life red. If you go to super cheap there is a 1L top up product that is compatible with all coolant types. How? Not sure, but I have used it before on another vehicle which used red coolant and it was ok.
Failing that get the red stuff.

You cant rely solely on the colour as different manufacturers can use different coloured dyes for their product compared to others. Some coolants can react together and form sludge/scale so the safest bet is just add some demineralised water. Or do a full flush and put in a known coolant so you know for next time whats in there

Thanks for the input everyone, figured it wouldn't be just any fluid.

im looking at the Nulon long life pink bottle at SCA, the 1L topup bottle to be suitable that you mentioned DiscoJ?

PS forgot to mention I have a 2.7L Diesel

I guess the only advantage is you could use this across multiple cars and coolant types.

Check the manual for your vehicle. Be fussy. The wrong coolant can cause major problems.
