Possibly a little off topic, but I had a '91 Disco 1 3 door and had to pull the dash out to sort an aircon problem. Written in white paint, on several inner dash parts, was "Project Jay" - the name of the project for the "new" Discovery.
After installing my discreet winch the other weekend, I have a couple of left over parts that now get stacked behind the shed to gather some cobwebs.
When looking over one of the parts, the air diverter that sits in front of the radiators and intercooler, and looks like this...

I noticed this marking....

Well paint me pink and call me a panther! - is this the only location on the whole vehicle that has the vehicle model designation marked on it?
I had a look at the compliance plates etc and have been in all sorts of nook sand crannies on this car and never noticed ""L319" marked anywhere else.
Does anyone know of any other places its marked?
And why put it here in letters 2 inches tall where no one will ever see them?
Does anyone know how they actually come up with the build designation numbers? Had a look a the history pages etc to no avail.
Its not history-changing stuff, but interesting nonetheless.
... things that make you go Hmmmm.
