Hi guys, just wondering if anyone can tell me where the sensor to automatically turn the headlights on lives? I had a bull bar fitted a couple of weeks ago, and I reckon since then the lights have been staying on a lot more than previously. I'm wondering if the sensor is located somewhere on the front of the car near the lights, and is possibly getting shaded by the new bull bar, causing the lights to stay on for longer?
Cheers

OK, well if that's the case it's definitely nothing to do with the bull bar then. Maybe I can get the sensor adjusted next service.

Can’t be adjusted...
It’s based only on ambient light levels through the windscreen to the sensor.
There is some hysteresis built in to prevent them coming on/going off too rapidly with shade etc.
More likely just current environment.

I've found in both the D4s I've owned that the lights can come on as the sun is getting low and you're heading towards it. There is still a fair bit of light .... in fact as everybody knows, there is too much light in the wrong places at that time of day.
It doesn't happen all the time but certainly has happened often enough to be noticed and on two different cars. Haven't given it too much though but was wondering if the sensor can be 'flooded' in certain conditions. Not the same issue as the OP's problem I know ... but while we are talking abut the lights :-)
