Sounds like it may be tied into the turbo oil drain issue.
Has it had the fix performed at any stage?

Had some oil spots on the floor so off to my repair shop. Bit worried after a massive oil leak a couple of years ago.
Said oil was coming from both turbos and to be a bit careful about an engine runaway.
Fix would be new turbos with the body off to get to them.
Background I have noticed a lot of blue smoke out the back on hard (foot to floor) acceleration. wait a few (15/30) seconds and do the same no smoke. Wait a longish time and try again and get blue smoke.
Only visible on hard acceleration and not in the cruise.
No visible low oil and no oil really used between changes (10,000 ks)
I have had the feeling for awhile it doesn't go quite as hard as it used to 130/140 on full throttle.
Any ideas would be appreciated before I commit a lot of money!
I like the car a lot.

SubscriberOil accumulates in the inlet tract under light load situations, and can be exacerbated by the old style turbo drain as Tombie says. Look up about the turbo drain issue and check if your vehicle has had it fitted.

As already mentioned by the good folk here, the oil drain for the secondary turbo on early 3.0lt sat a bit low on the sump instead of draining into the side of the block (the mod kit will fix that).
*I recommend, avoiding the stealers as they will more likely jump to "turbo replacement"
*Get inspected to see if its got the later secondary turbo oil drain fitted, if not get it done then drive around for at least 1 - 2K, if it clears, all good.
*Primary turbo, can wear out, just the way it goes.
*I always do turbo replacements with body off, D3, D4, RRS...all the same, makes it easier for me to do a better job.

Very first port of inspection is as Tombie and Dazza have said... check that the turbo drain kit has been installed. If not, then get it done, it creates some alarming symptoms for sure!!!

						SubscriberThanks for the replies.
I got the car with 70,000 on it and don't know it's previous service history. The drain mod has not been done since I got it so I shall check
Drove to Brisbane Friday (250 ks) and it left a couple of big "spoon fulls" of black oil on the painted concrete floor where it was parked for an hour or so.
I shall check the threads on turbo oil drains.
Again thanks.
