EGT Differential - is it a problem?

I have a 2010 3.0L SE, which has done ~220,000kms. It is awesome, runs beautifully... Just had another service with no problems to report.

We were driving back to Perth from Shark Bay last week, with my daughter at the wheel racking up some country kms... I plugged my IIDTool (BT) in to have a play, as I don't often get the chance to see what it can do, what info is available etc etc.
So, I had fun looking at all the different info that was available from "Live Values" menu option. Especially comparing bank 1 & 2 sensor info (temps, pressures etc), which I assume represent both halves of the V6... Lots of cool info there!

One thing I noticed was that the EGT's from bank 1 & 2 were significantly different. I'd go so far as to say that the bank 1 gauge may not even be working!
Bank 2 temp was around 380C, and fluctuated constantly with load.
Bank 1 temp was on 120C and didn't move at all. There are 2 other EGT sensors for bank 1, but they don't appear to be connected (displays NA)...
    Screenshot attached...

Should I be concerned? What would this affect on the car?

As mentioned, I have no problems with the car at all. Performance is great. No (confirmed) faults registered at any stage.

    Over to the brains trust!!

    Thanks (in anticipation!).

    Rob

    3.0l Diesel?
If I recall correctly the turbos are sequential and Banks 1 & 2 are NOT either side of the engine block. You get differing EGTs as one turbo is doing most of the work at normal loads. Give it a poke and the other EGTs will rise as the other turbo comes into play?

    Ahhh, makes sense...
I'll give it a go and see what happens.

My thinking on bank 1 & 2 being either side of the engine was because (my recollection) is the EGR info was referenced as bank 1 & 2 (eg EGR valve % open bank 1, bank 2)...
Although can't be sure now. I'll have to plug it back in and have another play!

    Thanks Chris.

On my 3.0l with 2 turbos, one of the banks No.2 sensor does all of the work until the revs exceed 2800 at which point No.2 of the other bank wakes up.

    EGT Confirmed!

So, the Bank 1 EGT doesn't move when not under load (idling in the driveway!).

    When under load (driving):
Bank 1 temp starts to rise when above about 2500rpm, and definitely starts 'heating up' after 3000rpm.
Even when dropping revs to ~2200rpm, it was still reading higher than the original 120C, which could be just residual heat...

    All good. Interesting to know.

    Thanks for the help!
