    Air intake hose damage

    Hi all,

Stuck my head under the bonnet this arvo and found this damaged hose. It is where the hose from the snorkel attaches to the bottom of the air box. The first image is looking from front to back, down onto the hose. The second image is closer up, where I stuffed my phone into the engine bay and looking from the rear back to the front of the vehicle.

EDIT: It appears the images are a bit mis-aligned from correct orientation, but I'm sure you can see the damage. Image 1 is upside down, and image 2 needs to rotate anti-clockwise 90 degrees.

The crappy greyish goop is some kind of sealant stuff that Daniel from Mulgo put on when he installed the nugget sealing kit a couple of years back.

I only just got it back from service a week ago, but to be honest, I haven't looked at that hose in ages. What could have caused this apparent crush injury that has caused the ribs to poke out of the hose? Is it likely some ham-fisted technician at LR did this, or is there some other "natural" explanation? I know the hose could deteriorate, but the apparent squashing has me baffled.

    Cheers,
    Nige

    Hi mate,

Sorry i am a bit of a techno-nobody, so not sure how to do much else with the images. I just used the normal upload image feature on the thread creator...

I can email them to you if interested, or happy if you could suggest something else?

I can see them, but no help for what has caused it.

That looks like the hose that comes with the sealed air box from Nugget, so not genuine. Don't know how it could've been damaged like that. Nugget has a new type of hose available plus adaptor for the air filter box.

Thanks Marty. Yes I am quite baffled what has crunched it like that. I can only think someone in the workshop may have grabbed it, but who knows? I will have to drop a line to super-Nugget and see if he can come to the rescue

    Cheers,
