Lightbulb Engine bay knock, intermittent 3.0TDV6

    Guys,
The other day I noticed this weird metal on metal noise that was intermittent in the engine bay.....mostly when the car is cold, well I think so anyway.i can't really hear where it is coming from exactly. I'll have to pull covers off to hear exactly.

    Video- YouTube

Any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

It's related to the lock up mechanism of the fan. Mines been doing it for years. Have been told it's not a problem and I reckon after years of doing it without the sky falling in that is probably true.

You have noticed it's only when cold, does not always occur and may have noticed also it goes away as soon as you rev the engine.

Noticed mine at 84k, checked the belts and tensioners etc and found that they had all been replaced... possibly to 'fix' the noise??
