Latest satnav options for Disco 3

    Hi guys,
As i am about to join the Disco3 crew with a used purchase (most likely a Disco 3 SE from 2005-2007), i am looking for the best options in regards to fitting an aftermarket sat nav, with reverse camera connection.

    Ideally i’d like it like:
    -screen as large as possible
-integrated in the dash, but as high as possible. In that empty space between the 2 air vents if possible
    -with Apple carplay support
    -with reverse camera support
-with bluetooth connection for phone, music in the car

The only option i’ve seen so far is to fit a 6.1 inch Pioneer screen AVH-Z5150BT, in the bottom space where the original CD reader is.
However i’ve seen the HSE model has a screen fitted between the aircon openings above, i am thinking that’s better.

Is this the setup you’d recommend?
I’ve searched for discussions on that topic but didn’t find anything more recent than 2016, so with the new satnav systems coming, i thought i’d ask for recent advice here.

    Cheers
    Nicolas

I took delivery yesterday of a Garmin 775MTS.
It has all the Hema maps plus it takes the Garmin wireless reverse camera.
16.5cm x 9,5cm screen is huge and I will mount in the lower right corner of the windscreen.
This has only just been put on the market, and does its updates via wireless connection.
will be playing with it over the weekend.

I would get the car first then look at options, V6 petrol models were mostly low spec so unlikely to get satnav which also means no screen. There are options for a double din unit to replace the factory stereo or add an extra unit to the empty dash space but this will need to be diy.

Yep, mine is an SE and no screen.
That's why I went with the Garmin unit.
It would fit in the space where the screen goes, but I've already filled it up with "stuff"!

I’d love see photos once you’ve done fitting it

Yes, i was definitely going diy, or actually get a specialized shop to fit it for me.
Found one, but they proposed only 1 fitting option whereas i’d like it higher up
I’ll try to post the photo they sent once back home tomorrow

Dead easy - I replaced my old GPS with the new one.
Whilst the screen is large, it's not too large, and in the lower corner there is minimal interference to visibility.
And you can see why I don't put it in the middle, although it could fit there.

Nice one. Are all the wires routed behind the facia? Is it picking up gps ok from that position?

The power cable still runs at the side just not had the time to pull the dash apart to route the cable through the back of the cubby. No issues with reception.
