			D4 Air Conditioner Compressor

Hi Folks, had a service carried out on my 2014 D4 today (98,000) and mentioned to the specialist a rattling noise coming from the engine bay when the car was idling. It’s been going on for about 3 months now, and gradually has got louder over that time. The noise is only when the AC is turned on, and the car is idling in “park” or “drive,” and is typically audible most of the time is this scenario. The service specialist confirmed my suspicions the AC compressor is in need of replacement.

Does anyone one have any experience with this and an idea of costs? (I’m waiting on a replacement quote). It seems to be a relatively less common issue. I do remember reading about similar situations in forums, but having just had a look through this forum, couldn’t find much on the topic at all. From memory some suggested trying a wreaker for a low kms unit, but I think it’s the labour that will be the major cost. My specialist has recommended an new aftermarket compressor. Once I get costs will post.

 Thanks for for your help
