    TD5 Diesel leak

    Hi Guys
Ive stumbled on a diesel leak.
BlackBetty spent sat nite in the shed, she dripped a 3" dia puddle of diesel overnite.
I put her up on ramps and got underneath with the engine running, with a light(engine cover off) I couldnt spot a leak, the wires to the starter motor are wet,but no sighn of fuel leaking.
Tonite I parked her in the carport, left the engine running for 10mins no drips.I switched her off and went down to the shed to sort out my fishing gear for the weekend.
I checked again when I was finished, the 3" puddle is back.
It seems her incontinece problem is occuring after shut down.Any ideas guys??? I will check again in the shed after work 2morrow but time is the issue, big trip to Esperance fri morn.

Depends where the leak is, I had mine leak a little from the filter that had come loose. Seems odd that it leaks when under no pressure, engine and pump off. Sounds like it must be venting out of something. As long as it only does it while it is turned off. What sort of volume Andy?

Actually I think you'll find its the fuel block and the orings had it.

When O'rings fail the first thing to go is their 'static' sealing.. eg. No/low pressure.

Under pressure they energise and seal properly.

    Yeah, I noticed one too.

I ran the 130 up on a particularly steep bit of gutter - about two feet, it's a long way to the street in Leichhardt - and diesel ran out of the filler.

Too expensive to waste at the moment.

    Cheers

    Hi Guys
THE BITCH didnt do it this morning or tonite 8) 8) 8) 8) It must of been the dummy spit she coped,I stopped just short of being racist THERE YOU GO GUYS A NEW WAY OF FIXING A LANDY LEAK 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O
I spoke to the local mechanic and all he could suggest is I disturbed the fuel lines whilst removing the intercooler. He said he knows nothing about the TD5,but said he has had simalar things happen on all the japper efi diesels.
He mentioned the relience on O rings to seal everything with little to hold them in tight.
I hope he is right, and it seems to match a few of your comments.

Had a leak on mine that was very sudden. Loose return lines on the fuel module. Fuel gauge dropped as quick as a V8 in a hurry .
Have a feel around the pipes near the fuel temp sensor. I still don't know why they were loose.

Short of stabbing a hole in the fuel tank is it really possible to drop fuel as fast as a V8 :?:

    Oh oh.. here we go.......

    Cheers
