Defender AUX Inner Guard & Sill Fuel Tanks - Filling Options?

Gents....


I recently bought one of Shingleback Aux Fuel Sill Tanks and I would like to fill it from the original Filler position.... BUT, my Puma also already has a 45ltr Inner Guard Fuel Tank installed. I know this inner tank had a bung where u fit a barb and hose to fill the Sill tank but I'm not confident that it would successfully or easily fill the Fill tank due to its position and lack of fall from one tank to the other. The other issue is to how to run the hose without it fouling on the Tyre under upwards wheel travel.. ? Also, there is no real clear path to run the hose from one tank to the other without running it to the inside of the chassis...

What I'm hoping for is that there is someone on here that already has the inner Guard Fuel Tank as well as the Sill Tank setup and whether they could post up (with photos if possible) how they did it and whether it works well or if they would do thing differently again....

Also, how have u plumbed it back into the fuel system??

On my old Disco1
I had a silk tank same side as filler
After a few different shots at the title my best solution to nearly same issue
You are looking at was to bend up a short length of 1.5” exhaust pipe that ran through the wheel archbsection sitting up on the spring perch and bent to flow as smoothly as possible
With some dieso rated silicone joiners I hooked into a tee off the filler and the sill tank.

The small diameter exhaust tube and fact it was metal gave me confidence for it running through the wheel arch.

Ran it that way for a few hundred thou and wasn’t a problem.

From the pics attached, there’s no way that running the hose over the spring perch and down to fill the sill tank is going to work... what other options is there?

The more I think about it, I think I need to look at a Right angle Elbow Fitting and run the filler hose down and behind the coil to create a good fall.... 25mm ID Filler hose has me worried when it comes to filling with diesel...

Obviously it will be slow to fill but if you use exhaust tubing and short flex joiners
Up and over the perch will work, the filler neck is higher than that tubing and diesel will spill over and into the sill tank ?

A simple Option would be to simply install a marine diesel filler screw cap and fitting inside the wheel arch, maybe a bit messy for filling but will do the job

Yeah... after buying all the fittings, etc and upon further investigation, I've decided to forget about this setup and go with a separate filler mounted into that triangle alloy piece between rear passengers door & in front of the rear wheel.
With the position of the bung on the inner guard tank, the run of hose and the potential issues that it would create, not to mention being more exposed to being hit via rocks; branches that one would be driving over in the bush it just isn't worth the risk. I've purchased a 2nd angled fuel filler and will just do the same setup as I've got on my other defender. This also has a few benefits with doing it this way as well.....

Well, the Aux Fuel Sill tank install is now complete and I think having the separate filler is a much better way to go...

This time I was able to buy an angles Fuel Filler which I reckon will make all the difference when it comes to filling too

The one thing I'm yet to test is pumping fuel from the sill tank into the Main tank and whether the Main tank will "Breathe" quickly enough to allow fuel to come in and air to escape (or vent out) as the Main tank fills. This was a problem on my old Tdi Defender, so I'm not sure how the PUMA Main Fuel Tanks normally breathe so I need to test this out....

Unless someone can tell me as to how the main fuel tanks breathe in the Pumas?
