    Front prop shaft replacement options.

    Gents,

Due to lack of care on my part, the front prop shaft gearbox side uni has failed and damaged the shaft side ears.

Given it is a fast wear component and I have just added a bit more torque with an engine swap I was contemplating swapping the whole shebang for an up-rated unit.

Given it only has a 0.5" lift (which will most likely settle as the springs are new) I am think the Wide Angle HD is the best combination of cost, longevity and DIY serviceability....I know from experience the double cardans are a PITA to work on.

Besides the Glynn Lewis wide angle HD & Extreme wide angle offerings who else should be on the short list?

I was starting to bind my original prop at the t/case end so went with a Tom Wood DC shaft.
It uses greasable 1310 Spicer unis at the three points and cost less than getting one made here including freight from the US.

I have a tom woods with 1310 unis in mine, it's been great. Dc isn't needed imho, and just something else to go wrong.
I have seen a few of the gwyn lewis is jobbies fail in the uni, but it was only rears.

"Given it is a fast wear component" ?

My front prop shaft has only done 640,000km - should I start worrying? (replaced one cross and bearing from memory - before any further damage occurred)

I have front and rear Gwyn Lewis HD DC shafts. Around $1600 landed for both. About the same price I was quoted for just the front here. 1310 unis, very well made.
