D5 fridge slide. How the hell?

Can someone please show me how they have fitted a fridge slide in their D5? A combination of the lift up flap for the spare wheel crank and the curved door opening means that I’m a bit stumped. Had it all solved in the D4 but this is something else!

Check the link in this post for an example. Looks like he made a sliding floor for it.

    Thanks Ron.
He must have moved his spare wheel. Unfortunately I can’t - until someone brings out a rear wheel carrier! I don’t fancy unloading the back to get at the crank.

I spotted an earlier post on Facebook from drifta up at Gloucester who did a nice unit.

I’ve been to their factory up there. Great business, quality kit.

I'm not sure, as in the 5 seater you have that space under the floor available - there's a polystyrene tray in it which looks to have been removed. He would need access to the winch to lower the spare though.

He’s either taken the rear seats out or has a 5 seat car.

Thanks for the Drifta link Gavin. I’ve been thinking of taking a trip to Gloucester to see what they can do. The pictures show a good setup but with the same issue - how to get at the spare wheel crank without taking everything out. I suspect that it may be necessary to cut the flap that gives access to the crank so that the part of it under the fridge can stay closed, although this wouldn’t work with a fridge opening as big as the one in the pictures.
I really need to do more (and better) thinking!!

I suppose the other option is to put an extension on the winder to bring it up through the floor as others have done with D3/4s. But I’m not keen on that if I can avoid it given the pile of red dust I have down there.

Maybe extend the tool used to wind the winch up or down? That way the winder in the car could remain the same as could the dust cap / grommet.

I appreciate that this is not a new problem. Why Land Rover put the winder where it is in the load space and why they continue to do it (they must have had a million complaints!) is beyond me. If you search the forum for “spare wheel winch” there are various solutions for various car models, including Drawers fitted by Rovingwill.
Looks like the extension is the only way to go, or set everything back to clear the folding cover.
