    What is it that makes Germans such good soldiers? I really hope they are on our side in the next big stoush. And I feel there will be one, because our political leaders are too weak to avoid it. If , heaven forbid, that happens, our young ones will have to get out of their cocoons, man up, and do what their fathers, grandfathers and great grand fathers had to do. God forbid.

    The French Foreign Legion. Supposedly misfits from around the World, but welded into a fighting force, by discipline, and tradition. Not well known is that the Australian Army took them on in Syria, WW2, and defeated them ,despite courageous defence, and desperate fighting from the Legion. How did it happen? the Foreign Legion were Vichy French, and Churchill decided they had to be taken out of Syria.
