    Redarc pro elite brake contollee

Hi guys, about to install one of these, is there a need to run a blue wire all the way through to the trailer plug? Or is it simply a matter of tapping into the brake light circuit ?

Not quite a D4 but on the lux i tried the brake switch first only to the run the wire to the back of the car.

Pretty sure a mate had similar issues with his 200.

It was all in vain as the redarc didn’t like the electric pump so I ended up installing a P3

I ran a 2 core 8B&S cable from the near side rear compartment in the boot (Where the trailer harness plugs are) to the drivers side kickpanel where I mounted the control box. You need to run a cable there anyway for the brake activation cable, may as well use a twin to pickup the brake light signal. Also don’t forget the 3A diode on the brake light brake controller cable.

You cannot use the brake switch. It’s a low voltage switch indirect of the brake system and not suitable. I highly recommend you read the sticky that tells you (in around 50 pages) how to hook one up into a Disco. Run the cable to the rear as has been suggested. Grab the signal from there and feel the trailer from the same wire pair. Redarc pro elite brake contollee

Well today was the day for the installation..... lovely day for it with Melbourne around 40☹️
The install was pretty much done (with many many thanks) by Chris.
We found a perfect spot for the main box down under the steering column..... and I mean. PERFECT fit. Just needed a minor fabrication with a bit of aluminium angle to make a small bracket.

Then some self tappers to keep it all in place

The wiring side has been well covered in the pinnacles Discover 4 sticky but we decided that the best place for the knob is on the light switch panel. This did require cutting away a bit of plastic as the panel is too thick to allow the mounting.

All in all I couldn’t be happier. Thanks again Chris
