Td5 a/c part

Hi team

I went to my local air con service guy today to have my Td5 re-gassed having suffered too long in 40+ heat (24 and raining today). However he found a hole in a pipe where it had been rubbing against the washer bottle.

You can see in the first photo where it has been rubbing (no idea why the photos have rotated 90o) and the other two show where each end terminates.

He said this would have to be replaced with a genuine part as he cant just replace the rubber part but also the metal pipes at the top of the middle photo which appear to be welded onto the mounting bracket.

I think this is the correct part number...

Two questions;

• is this part still available? Quick search of google doesn't find much :-(
• How difficult would it be to install? If I can get the part he is happy to install and re-gas. He had a quick look and thought that maybe the radiator would need to be removed.

I have been going to this guy for years and he is very honest. Under charges for his labour compared to others, doesn't charge if he cant fix something...sort of bloke. But is he right in this situation?

I had a pipe completely rebuilt due to upgraded intercooler - there is no need to remove the radiator to get the pipes out. It can get a bit fiddly but it is doable.

In terms of the pipe, 2nd hand should be fine, the fittings are hard to come by though from what I hear.

You can get the new hose easily enough. I recall around 280 genuine.
However you can remove the assembly and replace the hose and reuse the factory ends.
I replaced this hose for $25 doing it like this. My AC guy just supplied me the hose and two swage fittings. I removed the old and pushed the new hose on and the AC guy
re-swaged it.

The main thing however, is if your AC guy is doing it all, then getting a new factory hose will be easier, cheaper and faster from a labour perspective.
Adding a some protection or better fixing will stop that happening again.

Thanks guys. I have managed to source a new one via Mario (Roverlord) so should have that sometime toward the end of next week. Apparently the last one on the country! Then will head back to the a/c guy.

I will certainly ensure no more rubbing but in all fairness it has taken almost 20 years to get to this point.

I have received the part and it looks pretty straight forward to replace except the bottom front union. I thought I could save some labour cost by replacing the pipe work. Any hints on removal refitting of this bottom pipe? 22 mm spanner by the look. Do I need to remove any intercooler plumbing?
