Grease with a helthy dose of Moreys Oil Stabiliser.

I was put onto this trick by Andrew @ Les Richmond Auto.

    Works a treat.

I also add it to the G/Box, Transfer case and diffs.

    Cheers

hope your only adding the moreys to your g/box ect and not grease

oil is easyer to clean if it gets water in the joint, i used to just flush out
swivell with kero and refill with oil.
but now the fender is grease filled

I swapped my disco to oil probably about 8 years ago. I had too big a collection of siezed/stuffed bearings and stub axles.
The oil doesn't leak when you use the county double lipped seal.

I use grease because my left ball has been imperfect probably from birth.
( or at least lying in a paddock somewhere in Western sydney for 6 months before being sold)
Had to dismantle the RH swivel as a last final effort to find a shimmy. (good old LR worker had not hammered in the top swivel outer flush)
I can assure you it gets everywhere.
Trick to drain is to top up with ATF and drive around the block. haven't tried this yet but can hardly wait.

when I had my old series two(1958) oil filled hubs I used a 350 gear oil really thick, also wheel bearings I changed to oil filled as well great after doing heaps of river crossings just undo plug drain and use oil can to refill,
never had problems with the bearings in the six years I had.

Used to work on trucks and trailers the ones that had oil filled hubs never changed the bearings just the occasional adjustment, grease filled do not last as long.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

    Oil.

no seals in axle housing- swivells, hubs and diff swim insame oil.

go the oil if balls in good condition. if not good use the grease.

    Michael.
