    Lithium Battery & Traxide DBS

    Tim, I'm dreaming one day of installing a lithium battery into either the back of my D4 or onto the camper trailer (or both) and would like to know;

    1. Where you are at with development of such a kit.
    2. What needs to be done to upgrade and existing system as I currently have a US1-160?
    3. Recommended battery manufacturers and is there really is a difference between them?
    4. Charging them from solar panels.

    Hi,
    It ain't gonna be cheap. I went quite a bit over budget.
    I think I could have saved wiring up the DC2DC charger as per the instructions with supply cables to the vehicle battery and a trigger wire to the ignition.
    Taking the supply from the back of the Traxide device and bridging the trigger to the supply positive at the DC2DC would have probably been a better option.
    I got an Enerdrive DC2DC 40Amp, and a Project a 50Amp 240V charger to charge a Fusion 200AH Lithium as recommended by the supplier.
    I suspect a Ctek or Redarc BMS handling Alternator, Solar and 240Volt may have been cheaper and easier, but haven't verified that.
    I have not finished the install yet, it is not a drop in replacement.
    Cheers

    Hi Rod, I have been testing some lithium batteries I am interested in marketing.

    The batteries have proven to perform exactly as the manufacture specifies and will will be selling them very shortly.

    I am only carrying 100Ah size at this stage and I will also be selling Sterling battery chargers and Sterling Battery to Battery ( DC/DC ) chargers.

    As usual, there will be special prices for AULRO members.

    I will have more details in the next few days.
