    the motor .

If you talk to people they will tell you the Perentie motor is bullet proof and will do 400 K,s but if you look at most of them they seem to have had a motor change in army hands before 100,Ks ????

I have often wondered that myself, but I have a mate that served in the Army (driving FFR Perenties) and it kind of makes sense... Ahem

Some engine changes would have been done because the repair time on some things are longer than the time it takes to swap an engine out...

others may be because some unit workshops would have had the authority to change an engine but not to change an engine component.

and having seen some of the treatment the perenties copped through sheer neglect by operators (including driving them without top radiator hoses, with holed radiators, belts missing....) or just plain abusive driving I dont care how bullet proof the engine is, they're going to get killed.

and as I like to tell people... Arkies probably the most authentic landrover you're likely to see, It gets driven like the guy driving it doesnt have to worry about maintaining it.
