RRS 2007 TDV8 from auction seems good

Well I got the car from the train on Friday.. had a big fright as 50m down the road there was a shuddering and "TRANSMISSION FAULT" lit up on dash... limped along a bit further and all sorts of other errors.. lit up like a Christmas Tree.. then started thinking it couldn't be all these things at once.. sure enough battery totally dead and new battery fixed it all. No errors on dash.. drives beautifully.. seems very good mechanically!

Really loving the car.. just got a few questions if anyone could help..

1. Both keys work but their covers are destroyed and you can see the circuitry in them etc - I haven't been able to find anything on google on how I can fix these?

2. Friends have suggested servicing the 6 speed ZF and replacing pan with drainable one - there seems to be kits for these - can anyone point me in the right direction on what to get etc? I think I could do it myself looking at youtube vidoes - doesn't look too hard? I assume there are different ZF boxes so wondering what kit I should get etc.

3. Had to get a new windscreen for rego - but the rain sensor seems a bit slow on the new one (didn't test the old) - is there like a sensitivity adjustment or should I take it back to O'briens? It does work.. but usually needs buckets of water flowing down it - ie really heavy rain.

4. Need to get electric brakes controllers - any suggestions on what model system? I have a redarc in my other car.

Glad to hear you are happy with the car,

I would assume the covers are similar to the D3 key cases , i just purchesed some new holders off ebay and transfered them across. 1 key fob I was able to just clean out the old stuff and fit the rubbers to but its wasnt that good a fit.

I went direct to ZF for the replacement pan and the oil for my TDV6. get the box model and you should source a pan easily enough . I am not sure which box the TDV8 has in it. would most likely be the same 6 speed as the TDV6.

Cant help with the rain sensing wipers , only that mine are the opposite , tiny drop of water and they come on , pita most times.

Non original screen will cause issues with the rain sensor from what i've read.

Will these do the job? I just did one on my D3 and it was a winner, so I'm about to do the other.

Heh here you go mate.. it really does seem like a lot of car for $12.5k! Time will tell if a good buy i guess
