Wondering if anyone has found a neater (smaller size, easier to mount, still fully functional for purpose) microphone for aftermarket headunits than what is usually included.
For example, Alpine include a microphone with a sun visor clip that doubles up on the flat side for panel mounting, but if you take this option you end up with a fairly obtrusive protruding part, e.g. as you cans see in the picture taken from a review:

Another example is the Pioneer unit which looks to be even larger:

Not sure how it actually performs though? I'm wondering if anyone has tried any of the alternative third party offerings and has been happy with the smaller profile while retaining the same performance standards?
I use the mic that came with my head unit which is the typical black foam ball type and clip it to the trim just in front of the dash binnacle , hardly see it and sound is good.
