    Anyone work for the Mines

Just doin a bit of research after an offer i was made

Particuarly interested in the Bowen Basin or Isa regions

Interested in conditions and lifestyle mainly as I already know about the money 8) 8)

Plus this city life is becoming less and less attractive

Have spoken with a few people from the Isa and they all seem happy about the move

I'm not a miner, but I quite like the Isa. I go out there from time to time for work (repair pathology instruments) and I like the place. If you like the country and smallish towns, go for it. Make a few friends and it'll feel like home in no time.

    Bowen Basin

    seqfisho,

The Bowen basin is not a bad place to live. If you are thinking about living in one of the mining towns the extremes of temperature can be a little hard to get used to. The temperature varies from high 40's in summer to as low as 3 degrees in winter.

Most people living in the smaller towns travel into either Mackay or Rockhampton for shopping or fishing.

Let me know if you want to know any more about the area.

I did 3 1/2 years in Kal, (on the surface). Its a great place. I miss WA and don't actually know why we came back to QLD. Guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.

As can be seen from the Beaconsfield incident, the smaller communities stick together.

How does a guy get into the mining industry with no qualifications?

I've wanted to work in the mining industry for ages now, just never knew what the first step was...
