    2014 disco 4 oil pressure

Hi all, I am new to the forum. I have a 2014 disco that has recently started flashing the oil pressure light. I have checked oil level and a full service, yet the fault still happens. Have fitted a mechanical gauge and have 20PSI when hot idle and as much as 56PSi at full revs.
The light is intermittent and while testing yet again, I noticed the light come on at idle. The pressure switch was disconnected, so am truly confused as to why the light would activate as it is hardwired into the binnacle.

I am currently thinking that I may have a bare wire that is grounding and bringing on the oil pressure light.

Any help would be great as i am well and truly frustrated, the vehicle has 55K on the clock.

    Thanks
    for any help

    Thanks

Looks like the oil sender earths when there is oil pressure. Does the oil light illuminate when the sender is connected & the engine is stopped? If not, then the wiring is earthed somewhere.

    Thanks Milton.
Have researched it a fair bit but still stuck. The switch earths through the sensor. With ignition on engine not started the oil light on binaccle has zero power feed from the central junction box. Once started oil pressure must be earthed for 5 seconds then oil lamp illuminates. This works as intended however when oil light comes on the oil pressure wire is open circuit have used my multi meter to check. Also oil light on manual gauge and signal wire open circuit. So I am getting an earth from somewhere. Unsure if it is a rubbed wire or damaged binaccle. I'm thinking the pressure switch line should show closed circuit if the oil light is on. The other piece is, does anyone know if there is a secondary switch and or the internal oil level sensor is part of the oil pressure circuit. All wiring diagrams suggest not. Has anyone had a similar issue?

I’ve seen cases on Disco3 of similar issues which turned out to be shot main bearings. I hope that’s not the case.

Said with tongue firmly in cheek : Whack 12v into it with a jumper lead and see where the smoke comes from.

So found the fault a poorly run main engine harness rubbing on an engine bracket. Spoke to the dealer not interested as it is out of warranty. This is the same dealer that told me the engine needed replacement. And I might get goodwill. Think I will speak with landrover Australia.
All those out there with a lr4 check the middle cassette harness left hand side of engine bay. Follow min harness to centre of engine and make sure harness is not rubbing.
    Good luck

    Hi Scott,
Sorry I got my left's and rights upside down miss Jane.
The cassettes are on the right hand side. If you remove the Lego style battery box there are three plastic housings that hold three harness's these are the cassettes I referred to. They clip out and are intertwined behind the battery, I have a workshop manual that I will post if you like it covers the landrover models 2012 upwards.
    Thanks

Ok, so if checking for the same issue you follow wiring from behind battery box towards engine & you'd see wiring that's too close to an engine mount.

    Cheers,
