Yep, your option a is a very likely culprit, and fairly easy to find & fix.
Hi All,
Way to tick of my first post in here. I'm recently a new owner of a 2012 Puma 110. The central locking and immobiliser all appear to work perfectly....except it doesnt lock/unlock the two rear doors. It locks the cargo door at the back and cycles the front doors happily.
So far, from my searching i believe it can be eithier;
a. The wires inside the door 'connection' thingy-ma-jic.
b. A problem with the locking system from somwhere else?
Anyone else experianced this? Any tips where i should be looking?
Yep, your option a is a very likely culprit, and fairly easy to find & fix.
The wires have broken, pull out the rubber conduit between the pillar and door.
*Replace the harness.
*Fix, solder if you feel the need.
*Twist broken wires together like a dealer until its out of warranty
part #: LR016439 (use OEM)

Yep, happened on both our rear doors. Apparently if the doors open wide the wire through the grommet to the doors is pulled tight and can break.
Thanks all.
Amazing replies. I’ll have a look at this first thing tomorrow. Guess it’s time I buy a soldering kit!
It happens regardless of: early 2007 on wards, Defender (doors dont open wide), last Defenders (doors open wide), Defenders with door extension kits.
I would say (as Defender TD5 models didnt suffer this) that JLR cheaped out on parts quality... yet again.
Buy non genuine and they seem fine

My car has had to have the wires fixed several times since new. they get folded pretty hard and then break.
A word of advice - if when they break they short you'll think hell is rising up to swallow you.![]()
2005 Defender 110
All fixed guys. Thanks everyone for the help. Replaced purchasing ones via the part number Daz provided. They seemed longer than the originals though?
Now to fix the steering wobble haha!
