I bought a pair for my bt50, so far they have been great
John
Hi All,
Needing to replace the entire LH mirror assembly on the chariot, I've reached a decision point.
One second hand assembly tends to be priced $250-$350, whereas it appears I can purchase a pair of something like this for $300-$400.
I do tow a van, and being able to fold them in is also attractive as I 4wd.
Does anyone care to share any experiences with this type of product? Good or Bad?
Cheers
Ralph

I needed to replace the driver's side of mine three years ago and ended up with a second hand unit at the lower end of what you quote.
Part of the reason for staying genuine was because my research told me that any after market unit (at that time) was not compatible with the HSE memory seat (and mirrors) plugs. Hence it may be that you will need to adjust then manually.

My old man has a set on his LC200, and aside from making it look like Prince Charles when they are "in" and Dumbo when they are "out", I reckon they are great. I haven't towed his van with them (mine is a lot smaller) but his LC didn't have auto-folding mirrors anyway, so they do everything the originals did and the extra convex at the bottom is pretty swish.
I have seriously considered a set for the D3, but again my van is a lot smaller and for what we do the clip-ons are fine (and I already own them).
These guys sell an alternative MSA 4X4’s NEW Driving Mirrors Built for Work & Play! - MSA 4X4 Accessories which removes to some extent the "Prince Charles" effect. Haven't checked compatibility though.

I recently got a set when I bought my boat. Not pretty but work great. Have not been off-roading with them yet. The small mirrors on the bottom a great for watching the trailer wheels. Haven’t tried, but have heard you can angle them down so you can see the vehicles rear wheels. If so, should help with wheel placement off-road as long as I don’t wipe them off on a tree.

Ok, I've acquired a set of clearview mirrors and as mentioned earlier, the connections and connectors are different.
This is itself doesn't worry me as I am able change the plugs.
What I can't locate is the wiring diagram for the mirror circuits for a 2005/6 D3 HSE!
There are two connectors. I assume one is for the power fold (which I don't have) and the other is probs for the mirror adjust.
That said, there are no less than 9 wires in the two plugs!
The clearview have indicators and my old ones didn't so I'll need to sort that as well.
Cheers in advance,
Ralph
