    Water exchange /Thermostat unit replacement

Gday all after a bit of advice, I want to replace the plastic water exchange unit which sits on top of the engine. My question is how do I remove the egr pipes from the box which sits above the water unit, is there a special tool for the clips? and my second question is how tight are you doing up the nuts holding on the water unit. Thanks in advance

I just use a flat blade screwdriver to split the clips. A pair on needle nose pliers work to join them back together. No idea on the torque. I generally use my “hand” torque wrench - it seems to get it right for those types of fittings. Someone will be along with the correct value I’m sure (many a perfectionist around these parts).

    Water exchange /Thermostat unit replacement

Oh tip. I strongly recommend you replace the o-rings on the throttle body when you remove it. I have endless fun trying to get it to seal again and not leak oil if you don’t. Also realignment is extremely important to prevent leaks between the front attaching bend and the throttle body.

The manual states they’re one time use o-rings FYI

Might be smart to also replace those EGR pipe circlips as cheap and don’t like reuse.

    Look forward to write up.

The coolant outlet bolts are torqued to 14NM, do them crosswise to seat the o rings properly and be sure to clean the mounting face properly.

EGR pipe clips can be reused no issue.

Don't make my mistake and ensure you order two of them.

?? The genuine coolant outlet comes with a new set of o rings (4off) as standard. Or are you talking about the throttle body outlet o rings? In that case yes, you need to order two off
