300tdi to 4bd1/thas anybody done this please include details

Hi guys i understand i needed moded housing from klr to r380.
I have a 4bd1t. Which clutch, pressure plate and slave cylindef do i need? What about engine mounts. Which radiator did you use and what about a kick ass turbo. I have a 4bd1t but wouldnt a better turbo be best for performance? Or just buy the klr turbo kit and fit it onto 4bd1t. Im after someone in victoria perhaps i could drop by and have a look?

    Any pics?

    Hey mate,

Engine mounts are available from rijidij offroad. They may not be listed on his website but if you email him he'll sort you out.

The KLR turbo kit seems to be a straightforward kit to convert an NA engine to turbo. If you already have a turbo engine have a look at the Holset HX30, it's a direct bolt up to the Isuzu turbo manifold but there are many, many, (many, many) pages about "turbo sizing and performance prediction" on here and 4BTswaps.com

Is the 4bd1 that you have from an Isuzu truck or from a Perentie?.

    Cool,
The Isuzu 4bd1 has a separate boltup flywheel housing. The 4bd1's that LRA fitted to Land Rovers have a unique flywheel housing allowing the fitting of Land Rover gearboxes. The KLR R380 bellhousing conversion only works with the LRA housing/flywheel not the Isuzu gearbox pattern flywheel housing.

A flywheel housing taken off a 4bd1 from a Perentie will just bolt up to a 4bd1 from an Isuzu truck and vice versa.

I can definitely help you out with engine mounts when you get to that stage.
I’m located at Winchelsea 30kms West of Geelong. You are welcome to come and have a look at my County which has a truck 4BD1T in it. I also have other engines, gearboxes, turbos etc that you can look at to see what you need to get for a conversion.

You need to check the turbo /exhaust manifold to see what size turbo you have. If it’s from a NPR truck then it’s likely to be a T2 rather than a T3 turbo. So a HX30 won’t with without an adapter plate.

You don’t need a KLR manifold as you already have a cast turbo manifold.

You should really consider a perentie wreck with a box/bell housing clutch plate etc, without a motor. They are quite cheap if located nearby.
