My13 defender fuel issues..

Hi all,
So my mighty defender broke down two days ago on my way to work. She had a sudden jerk and lost all power.... She has only done 80k kms.

A scan revealed fault code P228C...Fuel regulator.
The motor would crank and start but only for a few seconds.....I suspect a fuel problem.. Hopefully not a fuel contamination!

The truck was towed to a good workshop in Hunter region...... I am anxiously waiting for a result.....

Anybody has a similar experience? Not much info about code P228C

I had a dirty fuel issue with my defender last year but my problem was it was clogging the fuel pickup inside the tank. I didn't have any fault codes come up though...

Maybe the SCV but I would have thought it should at least start and run for a while if it was this ??

I saw a late 110 at Ritters that the owner had kept changing filters trying to clean the fuel.
It then needed a complete set of injectors, pump etc and had potential for $10 K repair.
They had also pulled the fuel tank out, i cant recall if the tank was to be cleaned or replaced.
If it is dirty fuel be real careful and dismantle the fuel system for full cleaning before using it much more.

I have heard car insurance may cover the repair, but this may have been a myth.

My symptoms were a bit different, could drive the car if it didn't need to deliver a lot of power.
Otherwise it would go limp mode. So partial loss of fuel rather than no fuel.

I could pin point when I got water in the fuel. Insurance covered it except for the excess.
Repair was done with BT50 parts, have done about 50K since and had no problems.

My local LR Guru had a D4 that someone's better half filled with petrol, luckily the insurance company allowed an insurance claim for $13k
for a complete new fuel system as they classed it as an "accident"
